Good things come to those who wait
Good things come to those who wait is a series of eight ads prepared by Abbott Mead Vicker BBDO for Guinness over last nine years. It takes 119.53 seconds to pour the perfect pint of Guinness and it’s exactly that waiting time that ABV BBDO used as the background to the series.
“Swimblack” – 1998
“Surfer” – 1999
In 2002 Surfer was voted no. 1 in the 100 Greatest TV Adverts poll run by Chanell 4 and Sunday Times. One can find inspirations from Walter Crane’s 1893 painting Neptune’s Horses and Herman Melville’s novel Moby Dick.
He waits; that’s what he does.
And I tell you what: tick followed tock followed tick followed tock followed tick…
Ahab says, ‘I don’t care who you are, here’s to your dream.’
‘Here’s to you, Ahab’.
And the fat drummer hit the beat with all his heart.
Here’s to waiting.
